Times are changing in Phnom Penh and so is the music scene. Musicians, bands and audiences come and go, styles and repertories change. The Phnom Penh Hippie Orchestra, vitally alive, performs traditional and contemporary world folk music. Going back to their Roots, the Phnom Penh Hippie Orchestra is the extraordinary alternative to existing “Barang” bands in and around town. The songs are as diverse as the angles the musicians and their instruments come from! Nobody will keep their feet calm during Eastern-European, Arabian, Jewish, Middle and North-American traditional songs. The Phnom Penh Hippie Orchestra is comprised of nationals from the UK, New Zealand, Cambodia, Germany, Japan, Russia, Australia, Italy, Sweden and France, playing guitar, bass, violins, cello, mandolin, balalaika, flute, clarinet, trombone, accordion, percussion and drums.
